The river Teith is a hidden gem set within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. A river which can produce fish from opening day on the 1st February and accommodates fly fishing and spinning.

The river is also know for providing excellent sea trout fishing. The sea trout start to turn up in the river around mid – late April usually and some great sport can be had during the hours of darkness throughout the following months as the temperatures warm up.

If salmon fishing and using the fly a 13ft rod with a shooting head line and multitude of tips will cover most situations. When the river gets lower towards the summer a single handed  or switch rod become excellent tools in the armory accompanied with a floating line. When sea trout fishing a 10ft 7# is ideal … don’t leave the house without squirrel, pink and blue flies! If spinning is your game vision style lures can be productive in the spring along with a salmo toby. When the water drops scale down and fish small mepps spinners and you will be sure to pick up some sea trout. During the autumn months ruby red devons or red/orange flies can be well worth trying.

The river is also home to large numbers of grayling.

It is advisory for all anglers to use PPE including life jackets, protective eye wear, skipped hat and a wading stick.
